- Citation
- Regulation (EU) 2024/1689, Article 53(1)(b): draw up, keep up-to-date and make available information and documentation to providers of AI systems who intend to integrate the general-purpose AI model into their AI systems. Without prejudice to the need to observe and protect intellectual property rights and confidential business information or trade secrets in accordance with Union and national law, the information and documentation shall: (i) enable providers of AI systems to have a good understanding of the capabilities and limitations of the general-purpose AI model and to comply with their obligations pursuant to this Regulation; and (ii) contain, at a minimum, the elements set out in Annex XII;
- Condition
- Requires providers of general-purpose AI models to draw up, keep up to date and make available information and documentation to providers of AI systems who intend to integrate the model, enabling them to understand its capabilities and limitations and to comply with their own obligations. Article 53(1)(b), minimum content in Annex XII.
- Layer 1 detects
- one sequence on one line: deploy, distribute, provide, release or ship, in any form, optionally "a" or "the", then GPAI, general-purpose AI, foundation model, large language model or LLM; then within about 40 characters downstream, third party, customer, client or integrator; then within about 20 characters without, lacking or no, then model documentation, documentation, capabilities, limitations or integration guide ("release the foundation model to downstream customers without documentation"). It matches wording, not meaning: it does not read what information integrators actually receive, so it misses the practice told in other words ("Integrators get API keys only; no docs about what the model can't do."), and it fires on text that only names the practice, such as a refusal. Whether a text does the practice is judged in Layer 2.
